The concept of a light and sound show as a means of promoting the state’s history, culture and heritage meanwhile attracting tourists is rapidly growing. You can find them at monuments, particularly forts and palaces in Madhya Pradesh.

We’ve listed some of the best places to witness the light and sound shows in Madhya Pradesh. These incredible shows will surely take you back to the ground when Ashoka built the Sanchi stupa or when Raja Baz Bahadur proposed Rani Roopmati.

The love saga of Rani Roopmati and Baz Bahadur at Mandu

Take a peek into the past with the spectacular laser light and sound show, this one unfolds the history of Mandu. Hindola Mahal, set as the background of this exquisite light and sound show depicts the love saga of Rani Roopmati and Raja Baz Bahadur in the voice of the famous artist Ashutosh Rana. The show takes place every evening in various slots.

The tales of Chandel temples at Khajuraho

Khajuraho is one of the three UNESCO World heritage sites in Madhya Pradesh and it’s temple complex is renowned for holding exceptional artistry, depicting the era of Chandel rulers. The enthralling sound & light show in Khajuraho portrays the life of the Chandela rulers and traces the tales of temples they built in 10th and 11th CE in the audacious voice of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.

Hindi show timings:

  • October to February – 7:40 PM to 8:35 PM

  • March to September – 8:40 PM to 9:35 PM

English show timings:

  • October to February – 6:30 PM to 7:25 PM

  • March to September – 7:30 PM to 8:25 PM

Son et Lumiere: The Story of Stupas at the Sanchi Stupa

Madhya Pradesh is home to a total of three UNESCO world heritage sites, making it one of the most crucial reasons to visit. Sanchi, which treasures the historic remains of Buddhism in India, is also a UNESCO world heritage site. The Light & Sound show at the Sanchi Stupa depicts the story of the stupas and evokes the life of Emperor Ashoka and Gautam Buddha.

It uses 3D projection mapping technology, lasers, and amplified sound to turn the monuments into an open-air 3D theater.

Show timings: 7:30 PM to 8:05 PM

The Glorious history of Gwalior at Man Mandir palace

The ‘Pearl among the fortresses in India’, commonly known as the Gwalior fort is a hilltop fort imposing its rich culture and heritage throughout the city. The stunning Light and Sound show that takes place every day after sundown at the Gwalior fort portrays the reign of many dynasties that ruled over the city and the evolution of its culture.

During the show, the fort of Gwalior adorns a festive look in red-gold, blue-green luminescence and with the booming voice of actor Amitabh Bachchan adds life to the ambience.

Hindi show timings: 7:30 PM to 8:15 PM

English show timings: 8:30 PM to 9:15 PM

Wars have ravaged many, and also reshaped the entire city. The sound of horses running towards you and the lion attacking is sure to give you goosebumps.
