In a major boost to the organ donation program in Indore, two green corridors were set up for hastened delivery of donated organs, recently. Reportedly, this is the 40th time that such a project was undertaken in the city, which ensured rapid transportation of organs of a 52-year-old brain-dead woman. As per reports, the woman’s kidney was transferred to the city’s CHL hospital while her liver was taken to the Bansal Hospital in Bhopal.

According to reports, this is the first time that a green corridor was prepared from Indore to Bhopal. Reportedly, the donated liver was transported to Bhopal within a short span of 2 and a half hours. The organs belonged to a dentist from Indore, who was declared brain stem cell dead at Choithram Hospital on Thursday. Her daughter consented to donate the organs after she was counseled by senior officials.
As per reports, the stretch of 8 Km between Choithram Hospital and CHL Hospital was covered within 6 minutes. While one of her kidneys gave a new lease of life to a 32-year-old, the other was transplanted to a 58-year-old man from Kota. In addition to this, a man aged-34 received her liver at the Bansal Hospital in Indore.

In order to make this project a success, nearly 50 police officials administered traffic along the green corridor. Reportedly, a number of officials from the city, including the Commissioner thanked the girl for her altruistic deed. While 3 individuals have the woman’s organs have already blessed 3 individuals with new rays of life, her cornea and skin have been preserved too for helping the needy patients in the future.
