Propelling a steady increase in the tallies of active patients in the city, 1,787 new COVID cases were registered in Indore on Monday. Pushed by this hike, the net total of COVID-affected patients in Indore since the start of the pandemic, stands at 1,16,280 now. On the grim side, 8 deaths were recorded in the city for the third day in a row. Given these circumstances, it is pertinent for the citizens and the administration to execute measures for controlling the spread of contamination.
10,819 active patients registered in Indore on Monday!
After the second COVID wave enveloped the city of Indore, the graph of active patients has steeped higher since the beginning of April. A glance at the curve indicates that the tallies have sprung up unparalleled, in the past month. While the infection rates show no indications of dipping down anytime soon, the high rate of recoveries is the only relief here. With 2,161 recoveries recorded on Monday, the count of patients who got cured on a certain day has been consistently above the 2k-mark for the fifth day in a row.
While a total of 960 lives were lost by the end of March in Indore, the fatalities have increased alarmingly, taking the count up to 1,163 on Monday. Given a hike in critical patients witnessed in the past few days, the medical infrastructure of the city stands overburdened and there is marked over-utilisation of resources.
Mass sanitisation programs to clamp the infection rates
With an objective to decelerate the spread of the virus, Indore Municipal Corporation has initiated extensive disinfecting programs all across the city. While the colonies and residential complexes are being sanitised as per a schedule, the daily drives are being implemented at vulnerable and frequented spots. In view of the growing pandemic, the civic body has deployed a strict and vigilant watch to ensure that a further rise in cases is prevented.
