When in Indore, travelling around the city can tend to be a bit of a chore. The roads are often jammed and the condition of the public transport isn’t anything to write home about. That is an issue that has been plaguing the city for a long time and it seems that our cries have been heard.
After a long wait, we will soon be able to use electric buses that take shopkeepers and shoppers to various prominent marketplaces in the city.

Taking a cue from cities such as Jaipur, Lucknow and Delhi, the AICTSL is planning to make use of this entirely new public transport model. The reason behind this is to decongest the markets as much as possible.
Often, people take their own vehicles to the marketplaces and due to a lack of proper parking spaces, haphazardly park their vehicles. In turn, this leads to several choke points that completely ruin the whole idea of a good shopping trip.

These buses will have dedicated pick up spots from many major areas in the city. Once passengers have been picked up, the buses will drop them off at their respective markets, thereby eliminating the need for them to commute using their own vehicles. Soon enough, we can expect a lot less congestion at market places.
Which markets will these buses ply to?
As of now, the plan is to run the buses to important markets such as Rajwada, Khajuri Bazaar, Sitalamata Bazaar, Santha Bazaar, Marothia, Bajajkhana, Bartan Bazaar, Cloth Market and Sarafa.

These are some of the most prominent markets in the city. Decongesting them is actually a herculean task, but the solution that has been devised serves a two fold purpose.
For one, the markets will be more open and along with that, the buses will help shape a part of the public transport model in Indore. Since these are fully electric buses, we can expect them to take less of a toll on the environment as well.
Knock Knock
Indore’s public transport system could do with a much needed makeover and this seems like the perfect way to implement it. With this move, we can expect to see much open and decongested marketplaces in the heart of Indore.
