Developed under Shivaji Rao Holkar
Named after its incomplete architecture, Indore’s Footi Kothi was developed under King Shivaji Rao Holkar. The construction of this Kothi began in 1886, however, the work was stopped in 1902 when British officers became aware of its real purpose- attacking the British cantonment situated in Mhow. Today, around 300 rooms, which are located in the basement of Footi Kothi, are kept under lock and key.
Several myths have originated around this place, the most famous being that the construction stopped because a supernatural force blew the main gate, every time it was plastered. The eerie aura that surrounds the grips of this place is something that can be felt with every word of the folklore narrated by the locals.
