The Mahakal Lok corridor has been developed at an estimated cost of ₹316 crores.

With an aim to address the increasing footfall of pilgrims and to boost tourism in Ujjain, a 900-meter-long Mahakal Lok corridor has been developed at an estimated cost of ₹316 crores. Reportedly, the Mahakaleshwar Temple corridor development project has been taken up in two phases at a budget of ₹856 crores.

The first phase of the project which consists of a visitor's plaza spread over a 2.5 hectare area, surrounded by a lotus lake containing the statue of Shiva will be inaugurated today. Reportedly, an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) has also been set up to monitor the entire premise 24x7 with the help of AI-based surveillance cameras.

Phase two will see the expansion of the eastern and northern fronts of the temple at an estimated cost of ₹310.22 crores. Under this, various areas in the city, such as Maharajwada, Mahal Gate, Hari Phatak Bridge, Ramghat façade, and Begam Bagh Road will be developed.
