In an innovative move, Atal Indore City Transport Limited (AICTSL) has decided to repurpose old buses into mobile toilets, mobile hotels, and co-working spaces. This initiative aims to creatively utilise decommissioned buses while addressing urban needs.
The decision emerged from a key meeting recently led by City Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, AICTSL board members, and other civic officials. Alongside this plan, the meeting explored several other initiatives to improve Indore’s public transportation system.
Additionally, AICTSL has launched a pilot project integrating a high-tech monitoring system in five iBuses. Powered by AI and telematics, this system monitors drivers’ behaviour in real-time to enhance passenger safety.
The AI-based vigilance system will undergo rigorous testing by AICTSL authorities. If successful, it will be implemented in more city buses, marking a significant step toward smarter, safer urban transport.
