The Meteorology Department has predicted that cyclone Tauktae will soon reach Rajasthan and will be affecting some parts of the state. In light of the warnings issued, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan informed the media that smooth disaster management is being ensured across the state. Apart from instructing the officials to ensure smooth oxygen supply to covid infected individuals, the Chief Minister has also requested the state residents to stay alert and prepared.
Rajasthan’s Oxygen supply could be impacted
Weather experts have warned that Tauktae will be affecting certain Rajasthan districts including- Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions. In light of this information, Rajasthan’s Chief Minister had appealed to the citizens to stay cautious and prepared. Residents have been assured of smooth disaster management as the Disaster Management Teams are put on alert until the situation is back to normal.
It is also expected that the cyclone can affect Gujarat’s Jamnagar which is the biggest source of oxygen for Rajasthan. Hence, officials have been instructed to prepare emergency plans in advance to ensure a smooth oxygen supply for covid infected individuals. Further, hospitals have been instructed to install generators to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the storm.
Cyclone grips India
Similar red-alerts have been raised across the nation as this cyclone has diffused weather instruments, thereby, multiplying the threat that it poses. Cyclone Tauktae is expected to reach the shores of Gujarat by 18 May. Further, due to this storm, UP, Kerela, Karnataka, Goa, Konkan and Lakshadweep will also experience mid to heavy showers.
