Monsoon to arrive in Jaipur by Monday, predicts MeT department

Pre-monsoon showers wash the outskirts of Jaipur city on Friday, raising the humidity level here.

The monsoon is expected to lash Jaipur, Ajmer and Bharatpur divisions of Rajasthan by Monday, a report of the meteorological department stated. Several isolated regions in the state also received pleasant pre-monsoon showers on Friday and the mild to moderate rains lowered the impact of mercury here. However, the short wet spell later raised the humidity index of the state, up to 90 to 95%.

Jaipur is likely to receive pre-monsoon showers on Sunday

The MeT Department has announced that the Jaipur division is likely to get 'monsoon rainfall' in the next 48 hours and the light rains that scattered across various districts like Dausa, Alway, Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu among others were just the pre-onset jitters. The weather forecast has also lined up rainfall activity in Jaipur on Sunday, however, these have also been excluded from the actual monsoon phenomenon.

Reportedly, rains in the desert state will be brought in by the easterly winds, which open up a Sunday evening or Monday morning window for the rains to hit the ground. While state capital Jaipur remained covered in heavy cloud cover through the day on Friday, the humid afternoon opened up the skies on the city outskirts for some light rains.

This in turn raised the humidity across the city and neighbouring regions, turning the weather sultry. Today also, Jaipur is on the radar of isolated thunderstorms during the day with temperatures as high as 32°C. The mercury will dip to 28°C at night, regardless of rainfall, detailed the daily forecast.
