Bringing fame to Kanpur are the city’s 3 MSMEs, that have been awarded under the various categories at Tally MSME Awards 2021. Other winners from Uttar Pradesh are from Dhanauri, Deoria and Varanasi, which takes the total tally of enterprises from the state that have been recognised, to 6.

About awardees from Kanpur
Partners of Mercury Drycleaners– Sudhir Batra and Deepak Khattar have been awarded in the Business Veteran category. Established in 1959, this enterprise from Kanpur has been a renowned name in the dry cleaning and laundry space. In the last 45 years, they have grown 100x as they have more than 10 outlets.
Ajay Shanker Dixit, who hails from Kanpur and is the owner of Brij Caterers, put his employees and infrastructure to good use by providing cooked food and packed grocery items to daily wage earners and labourers. 155 such families have been adopted for 3 months and 10 among these have been earmarked to receive grocery supplies for 2 years. This is why he was awarded under the Social Patron category.
Efforts of Prerna Verma of Creative India have been recognised among the WonderWomen in MSMEs. She founded her enterprise in 2004 as a leather cord trading unit. However, over the years, this business has expanded and ventured in exports, manufacturing of cotton cords, purses, bags and leather goods.
