Speeding up the construction works in the Kanpur Metro project, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation is incessantly executing measures to ensure the fastest commissioning of the local travel system in the city. Now, the UPMRC has announced that the facility has successfully completed the casting of double T girders for the establishment of the first floors of metro station concourses on the priority corridor.

Assigning a deadline of November 2021 for trial runs, the metro authorities have accelerated the interventions on the priority corridor from IIT Kanpur to Motijheel. In alignment with this, the UPMRC concluded the casting works of a total of 439 double T-girders to be installed at the nine stations on the maiden route. It is noteworthy that the castings for these pillars were developed at the casting yard in Lucknow.
If Kanpur Metro succeeds in conducting trial runs by the end of November, it has planned to get the metro services opened for the public from January 2022 onwards. Shuttling commuters across the city, the facility aspires to evolve as the strongest component of the local transport after the start of its services.

The top officials are regularly conducting inspection tours at the construction sites to assure that no unnecessary impediments hamper the construction works. Out of the 9 stations, Kanpur metro has witnessed the erection of double T-girders at 8 stations from IIT Kanpur to Hallet( Lala Lajpat Rai) Hospital. Given the pace of the project, it is expected that the underlying framework of Motijheel station shall be established soon.
Through its proactive approach and dedicated interventions, UPMCR has added multiple feathers to Lucknow Metro’s cap. Parallel to this, Kanpur Metro is expected to surpass a list of milestones, given the commitment of its employees. Here, it is remarkable to note that Kanpur Metro will have the largest fleet amongst all metro services in the state.
