To trumpet the ban on single-use-plastic, the Kanpur Nagar Nigam has created a wonder from waste, in the form an iconic plastic Ludo Park. Standing in Kargil Park at Motijheel, this life size structure has been built by nearly 1978 kg of polythene waste collected by the Municipal Corporation. This first-of-its-kind initiative across the country, the recently launched park has found its place in both, India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records as the largest ludo board made from upcycling plastic garbage.

The ludo board at the Park has been built to a 20 by 20 meters in size to impersonate a life-size playing board. To make it more real and interactive, the administration has also place stools, instead of the usual game tokens so that people can impersonate ludo pieces and play the game. A big dice has also been place in the centr of the centre of the board to make the game more interesting, added officials.
In all, the Ludo Park is also being promoted as a designed selfie point in Kanpur. This is expected to spread word across geographies by channels of social media as an attempt to tell people how one can save the environment by utilising plastic waste.
Single-Use-Plastic awareness efforts in UP
Following the pan-India ban of single-use-plastic, the state of Uttar Pradesh is running several campaigns in an effort to unite the whole state against plastic. Active drives are being conducted to educate people about the prolonged disadvantages of plastic on the environment and effectively discourage usage among all.
Besides, special programs in schools are also planned, where children will be made aware of how plastic is harming their lives. They can inturn, educate their parents about the same. Social organizations have been urged to come forward to help eliminate single-use plastic garbage and reduce its circulation too. According to officials, strict action will be taken against those who fail to comply.
