Speeding up the interventions under the Kanpur Metro project, the UPMRC officials have successfully started the installation of the ‘Third Rail Traction System’ on the priority corridor stretching from IIT Kanpur to Motijheel. While the system would boost the aesthetic appeal of the upcoming facility, it comes up with an additional benefit of low maintenance. With this achievement registered on Monday, it is expected that the metro routes would be ready for an operational launch soon!
IIT Kanpur station all set to get the first escalator system
After the establishment of the foundational structures for the metro stations, the authorities have now focused their efforts to equip them will all the modern amenities. Taking these plans further, the installation of the first escalator system has been started at the IIT Kanpur station. As per the information given by Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, a total of 9 escalators will be set up across the 9 stations lying on the maiden priority corridor.
Polytechnic Depot to welcome the first train
Additionally, the UPMRC informed, a few days ago that the preparations have accelerated at the Polytechnic Depot. Notably, the first train will be received at the station in the month of September. While the workshop is ready, nearly 65% of the works related to the tracks have been completed.
Further, the India Rail Association has assigned specific codes to all the 29 stations of Kanpur Metro. While IIT Kanpur Metro stations will be referred to as IITK, similar attributes have been given to other stations too. Given the pace of progress, it can be said that the metro service will soon turn into a sweet reality, revamping the local transport system in the city.
