In a bid to alleviate the problem of traffic jams in Kanpur’s industrial area, a new expressway has been proposed in the region. As per reports, the new four-lane road shall be established on the Nahar Patri, which leads to Kannauj passing through Panki and Vishdhan. Reportedly, two lanes will be set in the first phase and it has been stated that the project will be implemented at an approximate cost of ₹100 crores.
Irrigation Dept, PWD & Forest Dept officials streamline efforts
According to reports, the Irrigation Department has successfully surveyed the entire stretch and prepared a record of the number and the type of encroachments. Reports state that the officials are deciphering the amount of land that is required and the PWD will prepare a detailed assessment in this regard. Further, the Forest Department authorities will also be roped in to determine the number of trees that need to be cleared for the materialisation of plans.
Enhanced connectivity to propel industrial activities
Reportedly, the Lucknow-Agra expressway is linked to Kanpur-Aligarh GT at the Arol junction and this road consists of 2 lanes. Due to this, regular traffic issues are observed at Manthana, Shivrajpur, Uttaripoora, Bilhaur and other areas. Additionally, trucks coming from Aligarh, Sitapur and Hardoi also encounter difficulties becuase of the no entry.
Making a note of this, the officials from a high-level development committee are trying to find viable solutions. After the four-lane expressway, a new road shall be linked to the Agra expressway, boosting the industrial activities in the state.
