With Diwali falling on October 20 this year, Ayodhya is preparing to offer tourists and devotees a spectacle of light. The city is preparing to break its own Guinness World Record by lighting 26 lakh earthen lamps on October 19, as part of the annual Ayodhya Deepotsav celebration. These lamps will be placed along the banks of the Saryu River, Ram Ki Paidi and other ghats. This will mark the eighth consecutive record-setting Deepotsav, surpassing last year’s 25 lakh lamps.
Largest-ever aarti & spiritual festivities
The festival will feature the largest-ever Aarti ceremony, with over 1,100 religious leaders, saints, and local residents taking part. The entire process of lamp arrangement, lighting, counting, and verification will be overseen by thousands of student volunteers from Awadh University.
Guinness World Record validation
The event’s technical accuracy and transparency will be monitored by the Guinness World Records adjudication panel. Upon successful completion, a certificate will be awarded.
