Knocksense Shorts | Supporting farmers, CSIR-NBRI to integrate floriculture and apiculture

With a focus on developing herbal products, new fragrances from the flowers!

In an attempt to bolster the income of farmers, CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) is currently working towards combining floriculture and apiculture (bee-keeping on a large scale). It is noteworthy that the institute has already undertaken a floriculture mission, under which it supports flower growth.

Under this undertaking, the institute will primarily promote lotus-based products, new herbal products, creating new fragrances from a variety of flowers, and more. Notably, improving traits of opium and cannabis by lowering their THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) levels will also be undertaken on priority.
