Knocksense Shorts | Survey underway in UP schools to detect parasitic infections in students

The survey which was started on Nov 21 and will continue till Dec 18.

Soil-transmitted helminths often lead to complex parasitic infections among children. This hinders their physical and mental development during the growing ages and also affects the metabolism.

To detect such parasitic infections among children, a team of experts from the Chandigarh-based National Institute of Epidemiology of ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) has been deployed. The experts are currently conducting surveys to detect helminths in children studying in the government primary and upper primary schools in UP.

The survey started on November 21 and will go on till December 18. It will cover all the government-run schools in Lucknow and Kanpur.
