UP will soon boast a total of 75 dedicated units strategically positioned to combat cybercrimes at the district level.

Amidst the escalating incidents of cyberfrauds and scams across India, Uttar Pradesh government is proactively addressing the issue by establishing 57 new specialized cyber police stations across various districts in the state. Recognizing the need for a robust security framework to counter cybercrimes, these dedicated units will be set up to tackle the growing online scams.

The surge in online tool usage and the prevalence of financial apps have given rise to an array of cybercrimes affecting ordinary citizens. Instances such as customer care scams, pension fraud, utility bill manipulation, work-from-home schemes, sextortion, loan app traps, parcel scams and several other ones have become alarmingly pervasive in society.

Currently, cybercrime police stations operate only at the regional level and within district-level cyber cells. However, with the establishment of these 57 new cyber police stations, Uttar Pradesh will boast a total of 75 dedicated units strategically positioned to combat cybercrimes at the district level.
