Lucknow grapples with long queues & cab shortages amidst transport strike

Fuel station frenzy and commute crunch!

Public transport in Lucknow faces challenges as residents encounter difficulties booking cabs and alternative modes of commute. The reason behind the availability of cabs and long queues at fuel stations is the strike by All India Motor Transport Congress against Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

The BNS mandates strict penalties, including up to 10 years imprisonment and a ₹7 lakh fine for hit-and-run cases. Rumours of an extended truckers' strike have intensified panic refueling at petrol pumps, leading to long queues. Drivers supplying fuel and vegetables comply with AIMTC's strike, raising concerns about potential shortages in essential supplies till tomorrow.

Several residents have reported finding it impossible to book an online cab or get autos and tempos to commute. While several public transport vehicles have gone off the road, even those lucky enough to book an online cab are having to pay exorbitant amounts of money for short rides.
