Lucknow is all set to lead the national vision of an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ or self-reliant India by boosting the spirit and handicrafts of local artisans on a countrywide platform. Hosting the 24th edition of the Hunar Haar which is the flagship event of Ministry of Minority Affair, Lucknow’s take on this ‘vocal for local’ programme will monetise the skills of several artisans, craftsmen and culinary experts, opening new employment opportunities. Extending through 2 weeks, the Hunar Haat will be organised from January 22 to February 4 at Avadh Shilpgram in Lucknow.
Unleashing festivities, celebrating art!
Lucknow’s Hunar Haat will converge the art and skills of 500 artisans from 31 states and union territories at one place, awarding them with their due recognition and encouragement. These artisans, through Hunar-Haat, will get to make a stellar exhibition of handmade handicrafts woven by utilising natural resources.
Products of bamboo, wood, brass and cane will be put on display to showcase the wonder-talent of the artisans. Besides them, herbal and ethnic products will also be exhibited here. Indian prints like batik, bagh, ajrakh and bandhej, woven and threaded by hand, will be up for grabs at the Hunar Haat. Taking your palate on a joy ride, an array of traditional delicacies and authentic flavours from different parts of the country will also be at the visitors’ disposal! For those who cant reach here, don’t worry! Lucknow authorities have made arrangements to make all products available online too at hunarhaat.org.
But Lucknowites, don’t mistake this as another usual exhibition in the city; festivities here will be celebrated in the presence of renowned artists like Kailash Kher, Vinod Rathore, Shibani Kashyap, Bhupendra Bhuppi, and many more! The fun and frolic here will add to the motive of the programme; to celebrate and support the local artisans.
The Ministry of Minority affairs stated that the Chief Minister will inaugurate Lucknow’s Hunar Haat on January 23. Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Ministers, Khadi and Village Industries Commission Chairman V K Saxena will be present to flag-off the event.
The Golden-Ticket for local craftsmen
As per the Ministry of Minority affairs, Hunar Haat will be organised in New Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Indore, Mysore, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Ranchi, Kota, Kochi, Puducherry and other places in the coming days.
Such programmes will provide exposure to lakhs of local craftsmen in the country, paving way for them to establish themselves in the mainstream market. In the last 5 years of its existence, the Hunar Haat has touched the lives of over 5 lakh artisans, providing them with a means to shape their own, bright and self-reliant future.
