In a major leap forward for the Lucknow Metro’s expansion, the DPR for the highly anticipated East-West corridor has received a green light during a pivotal meeting held in Delhi. This corridor, officially designated as Phase 1B, will extend from Charbagh Railway Station to Vasant Kunj in Old Lucknow.
The corridor will provide access to key locations, including King George Medical University, City Station, Chowk, and other prominent areas of Old Lucknow.

According to UPMRC, the proposed corridor will span 11.165 kilometers, featuring 4.286 kilometers of elevated tracks and 6.879 kilometers underground. It will include 12 stations—7 underground and 5 elevated.
The Lucknow Metro expansion project is advancing, with the recent NPG meeting marking significant progress. Representatives from the Ministries of Housing and Urban Affairs, Defence, Railways, Environment and Forests, and Finance participated in the meeting.

The next major step is obtaining approval from the Public Investment Board, requiring the Central Cabinet’s approval of the project’s DPR. Once approved by the cabinet, UPMRC will begin construction of the corridor, with an estimated completion time of five years.
