Lucknow News | Dip in AQI & temperatures leads to 25% rise in patients with respiratory issues

With AQI exceeding 240 daily, the air is severely unhealthy.

With worsening AQI in Lucknow and a dip in temperatures, Lucknow's citizens are facing a surge in respiratory disorders. As per reports, the city's public hospitals are witnessing a 25% increase in patients seeking treatment for respiratory problems.

According to reports, this surge can be attributed to the city consistently recording daily AQI levels exceeding 240 - rendering its air severely unhealthy for individuals with chronic respiratory conditions. Moreover, the elderly alongside those suffering from COVID's long-term impact or lung conditions, remain highly susceptible to infections during this season.

Acknowledging the annual dense smog prevailing in the city, the Lucknow DM has issued directives to implement water sprinkling and anti-smog drives. Educators from the State Education Department are also being instructed to conduct half-hour classes in schools/colleges to explain how simple practices can reduce smog. Additionally, city officials have been asked to conduct air pollution audits on civil work sites.
