Lucknow News | Vikas Nagar Road collapses again at the same spot, second time this year
In a troubling incident, a stretch of road in Vikas Nagar caved in once again, creating a 20-meter-deep pit. The collapse occurred in front of the Punjab National Bank, Vikas Nagar branch; the same spot where the road had previously collapsed in July this year. Locals have raised concerns about the recurring issue, attributing it to a major problem with the sewer line in the area.
A CCTV video from the incident, recorded at 3 AM, shows a dumper truck passing by just before the road collapsed. Despite the civil authorities imposing restrictions on heavy vehicles in July, dumper trucks continue to pass through the area, contributing to the repeated collapses. This ongoing issue has also raised questions about the quality of road maintenance in the locality.
Following the collapse, barricades were immediately placed around the pit, completely blocking traffic movement. Locals are facing significant congestion due to diverted routes.
Municipal Corporation officials have arrived on-site with JCBs and other equipment to begin repairs. Efforts are underway to fill the pit with soil and debris, while work has also started to address the leak in the sewer line.
