In light of the large crowds expected during the New Year celebrations in Lucknow, DGP Prashat Kumar has directed senior officers to ensure the presence of police forces at key hotspots. Special patrolling will be carried out to prevent any untoward incidents between Dec 31 and Jan 1.
To safeguard public spaces, Lucknow Police have been tasked with identifying and securing sensitive areas, event venues, hotels and public gathering spots. The police will also be conducting flag marches from the evening of December 31 to deter any criminal activities. Stringent measures will be implemented at locations where large gatherings are expected.
Strict enforcement against miscreants
As per the directives issued by Lucknow City DGP, the following measures will remain in place on New Year’s Eve and the next day:

To ensure security around religious sites, surveillance through drones and CCTV cameras will be in motion. These steps are aimed at preventing any disturbances or criminal activities near places of worship.

Strict actions will be taken against lawbreakers, particularly those involved in drinking and driving.

To prevent thefts and chain snatching, officers and Anti-Romeo squads will be deployed across the city.

With an increase in online activity during the celebrations, authorities have also taken a firm stance against rumours and objectionable content circulating on social media.
Residents and visitors are urged to stay vigilant during the New Year celebrations. Avoid drinking and driving, and follow all traffic and safety regulations. Be mindful of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.
