Lucknow traffic advisory issued ahead of Rashtra Prerna Sthal inauguration on Dec 25

The inauguration of Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow’s Vasant Kunj is scheduled for December 25, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. PM Narendra Modi, UP State CM Yogi Adityanath, and several other senior political leaders will attend the ceremony.

Spread across 65 acres in the Vasant Kunj Yojana along Hardoi Road, the Rashtra Prerna Sthal is a vast green memorial complex. It houses the city’s tallest statues of prominent national leaders, including Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

In view of the high-profile inauguration and Christmas-related footfall across the city, several key routes in Lucknow will be affected on December 25.

List of diversions and alternate routes

The Lucknow Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory, stating that diversions will be enforced from midnight on December 25 until the conclusion of the inauguration ceremony. Here’s the list:

• Malihabad Chauraha: Restrictions on heavy and commercial vehicles heading toward Bajnagar Kisan Path/Chhandoiya. Diversion via Zero Point, Mohan Road.

• Munjasa Tiraha: All traffic restricted toward Bajnagar Kisan Path; use the Zero Point Mohan Road route.

• Bajnagar Kisan Path Underpass: Heavy vehicles heading toward Chhandoiya Bypass must divert via Kisan Path.

• Kasmandi Underpass (Humsafar Lawn): No heavy/commercial vehicles allowed toward Andhe Ki Chowki Tiraha; use Kisan Path instead.

• Chhandoiya Bypass Tiraha: Restriction toward the venue (Rashtra Prerna Sthal) and Bhitauli Tiraha. Routes via Dubagga Tiraha or Andhe Ki Chowki are recommended.

• Tikonia Tiraha: Heavy vehicles diverted toward Canal Tiraha (Nahar Tiraha), Mohan Road, and Khushalganj.

• Bhitauli Tiraha (Sitapur Road): Restricted toward the venue/Chhandoiya Bypass. Divert via Sairpur Tiraha, Asti Crossing, and Bakshi Ka Talab.

• Naya Pakka Pul / Kudia Ghat: Commercial and general traffic toward Dhaila Tiraha restricted. Use Rumi Gate, Koneshwar Chauraha, and Balaganj.

• Dubagga Tiraha: No entry toward Chhandoiya or Sitapur Bypass. Vehicles must use the Tikonia Tiraha route.

• Naharpul Tiraha: Entry toward Budheshwar restricted; use Zero Point or Kisan Path Flyover.

Inter-District/External Diversions

• Kanpur Route: Vehicles for Gorakhpur/Azamgarh diverted via Fatehpur, Lalganj, Bachhrawan, and the Purvanchal Expressway.

• Unnao Route: Diversion via Dahi Chowki, Purwa, and Bachhrawan toward Purvanchal Expressway.

• Sitapur/Hardoi Route: Traffic for Gonda/Basti diverted via Chahalari Ghat, Bahraich, or Bangarmau/Lalganj routes.

• Barabanki Route: Vehicles for Delhi/Hardoi diverted via Haidergarh, Bachhrawan, and Fatehpur.

Important Notes for Commuters

To ensure a smooth commute during the upcoming high-profile event at Vasant Kunj Yojana, it is strongly recommended that travellers plan their journeys in advance and avoid the designated restricted routes unless travel is absolutely essential.
