The National Defence Academy (NDA) is soon to tie-up with Lucknow University to facilitate lateral entry for cadets unable to complete their military training (boarded out candidates). A special MoU is to be signed between both institutions for which the announcement was made during LU's recent convocation ceremony.

Since the university offers all the academic courses available at the NDA, this partnership ensures academic continuity for cadets boarded out of military training. Additionally, the collaboration, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP), will promote knowledge sharing between the two institutions.

Boarded out candidates
The candidates who are discharged from military training academies, such as the National Defence Academy (NDA), due to medical, psychological, or other reasons that make them unfit to continue with the rigorous training required for a military career. These candidates are no longer eligible for commissioning in the armed forces but may pursue alternative career paths or educational opportunities.
