6 year old and full of energy Devaagyh (Dey-vaa-gya-ha) Dixit is who we’d like you to meet today. Super energized and mischievous, as any happy 6 year old is supposed to be, Devaagyh is India’s youngest drummer. With 7 world records and 15 national records to his name, including India Book of Record’s ‘Youngest drummer’ and ‘Fastest Drummer’, Devaagyh is a child prodigy who is making Lucknow proud.

The little man won his first ever world record at the young age of 1 year and 10 months! Devaagyh plays 6 instruments on a total, his drum set, synthesizer, guitar, darbuka (an African drum), cajun, and has just started learning tabla. He is also learning beat-boxing and western singing along with it.
At the age of 2 years Devaagyh picked up the drumsticks and played a tune his father was being taught by a music teacher. Shocked and utterly in awe, Devaagyh’s parents realized that the young boy had an ear for music and a sharp mind which helped him remember and recall tunes and notes.

“He watched and heard his father play the drums for two days standing at the doorway of the room, refusing to leave. On the third day, as his father was seeing off the music teacher, we heard someone playing the drums and we were utterly shocked to find out our 2 year old son playing the same tune that the teacher was only minutes ago teaching his father,” his mother tells us.
Devaagyh then proceeded to learn the drums via tutorials and short videos that he saw on YouTube, finally mastering the instrument.
Music is Devaagyh’s passion and he likes listening to all genres of music. Be it the Indian classic, modern pop, Bollywood or hard rock, his parents have made sure that he is exposed to it all and knows his way around good music.
It goes to shoe that every child, no matter how small, is gifted and eager to learn. It is a parents responsibility to know where the interest of their child lies and help them hone it. A parent’s role in crafting any child’s future is huge and it is the right training that helps them find their way.
What is the guy up to now?

Devaagyh has done close to 180 shows till date and is also associated with a charity venture “Drums for charity and Drums for change”, where he plays for orphaned underprivileged children. Devaagyh and his parents have bought small stools and drum sticks for classes where Devaagyh conducts ‘Drumming Circles’, a workshop for small underprivileged kids to help them learn important lessons such as team-work and unity in strength.
On being asked if his mother wanted him to pursue music she said that Devaagyh’s dreams lie as far from music, as can be, “He wants to become a fighter pilot when he grows up and I believe a career is something that a child has to choose for himself. We’re just helping him realize his true potential.”
Along with all that he is doing, Devaagyh is also learning French and preparing for a Lawn Tennis tournament in 2020.
Devaagyh is not only an active child who is eager to meet others, he is talkative, fun to be around, curious and full of life. Devaagyh is the example of what we can achieve as soon as we comprehend the fact that it is achievable.
