In a significant step towards improving rural sanitation, the Panchayati Raj Department of Uttar Pradesh has introduced a new strategy under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The department has developed a mobile application to enable real-time monitoring of garbage collection, progress tracking, and worker reporting.
As part of this initiative, QR codes will be installed at homes, establishments, and government offices in village panchayats across Uttar Pradesh, particularly in rural areas. Sanitation workers will scan these codes using their mobile phones while collecting waste, ensuring daily monitoring of garbage collection. The system is set to be implemented across the rural areas of Lucknow district from April 1.
The RRC Mobile Survey App, developed by the Panchayati Raj Department, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, will facilitate this process. Following a successful trial last month, the initiative will initially be launched in 50 villages as a pilot project. This digital approach will enhance sanitation monitoring, track workers’ attendance and efficiency, and ensure proper waste disposal management.
