Now earn money by reporting power thefts in UP! The government of Uttar Pradesh has planned a monetary reward for the people who help in revealing names of those involved in the thefts.
Energy minister Shrikant Sharma announced the news, and said that 10% of the recovered money will be given to the informant and 10% of the total collection will be given to the members of the enforcement squad.
This idea has been picked up from Gujarat and Harayana, and aims at controlling the problem of power thefts in UP. Even today, the state faces a huge shortage of electricity per day, which is about 2000-2200 MV.
