After a long gap of almost seven months, schools in Lucknow are all set to reopen. The Uttar Pradesh government has conditionally permitted the reopening of schools from October 19, for classes 9th to 12th only. These classes will be held under the advisory of the Centre’s Home Ministry and the guidelines of the UP government. Students in 8th and below, will still have to stay home and attend classes online, until further notice.
Schools reopen with strict precautions!
As per the new guidelines, the classes will run in two shifts with a written consent from parents. The schools cannot exceed the specified number of students in a class, in-order to avoid crowding. Necessary precautions like sanitisation near gates, classes and washrooms, compulsory wearing of face masks and maintaining social distancing between students, must be ensured by the management.
No morning prayer & meetings!
While it might seem like life’s coming back to normal for students of 9th to 12th, the restrictions in place will surely make them miss the fun curriculum of the school. With no morning prayer & meetings, that’s meant to avoid gatherings, the students are going to get used to the new normal at school now. Owing to the strict social distancing norms in place, students will not be allowed to take leisurely breaks and cannot even share tiffins and water bottles.
While schools in UP have been given a green signal, other states have extended the lockdown in COVID-19 hotspots till October 31, in-order to break the chain of coronavirus transmission. The final decision however, rests in the hands of the parents, as the reopening requires their written consent.
