In wake of the rising scale of fresh COVID cases in Lucknow, the commissionerate jurisdiction imposed new prohibitory orders along with Section 144 here till February 8, 2022. The order has been moved to keep a check on law and order, and ensure compliance with all pandemic-related protocols during upcoming festivals, various entrance or competitive exams and farmers’ protests, read reports. The directive restricts the assembly of 4 or more persons in Lucknow without prior permission.

According to the circular issued by the Lucknow Commissionerate Jurisdiction, it is compulsory for all to wear a mask and maintain adequate social distance in public places. An 8-hour curfew, stretching from 10 PM to 6 AM is only in motion here to prevent increased spread due to high contact. While all establishments and covered places in containment zones are sealed, others (outside containment zones) have been permitted to operate at only 50% capacity. This includes restaurants, hotels, food joints, cinema halls and places of worship as well.
Similarly, all political, religious or social events inside containment zones are completely banned. Those held outside can host no more than 100 people in a closed venue and over 50% capacity in case of open grounds. The order will be strictly followed during all festive celebrations held in view of Guru Govind Singh Jayanti, Lohri, Makar Sankranti and Republic Day. The need to boost COVID vigil during festivals is highlighted in the order, with emphasis on all government-issued guidelines and protocols.

The aforementioned additional restrictions have been imposed in Lucknow since the active caseload here has exceeded the 1000 mark. Strict precaution is being taken against the virus for this rise has been logged in less than 5 days here. The city only has 206 active cases ad of January 1, 2022.
Besides, a fresh load of 577 new COVID cases were reported in Lucknow on Friday, marking a 7-month high. The city last reported over 500 cases in May 2021, spiking health concerns here. Of the fresh load, around 354 are men while 223 are female. As per reports, the maximum share of 118 cases in Lucknow have pooled in from the Alignaj area, followed by 80 in Chinhat, 69 in Saojininar and 51 in Indira Nagar.
