Sudden rainfall brings brief relief to Lucknow, Kanpur may be next; heatwave looms ahead
Lucknow and several neighboring districts of Uttar Pradesh experienced sudden rainfall last night, leading to a slight drop in temperature. However, weather conditions stabilised by morning, with temperatures expected to reach a maximum of 34°C and a minimum of 18°C. According to IMD, dry weather is anticipated from March 17 to 20, after which easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal could bring light drizzles to southeastern parts of the state.
Following the rain in Lucknow, Kanpur witnessed increased cloud movement, resulting in intermittent sunshine and shade. Kanpur's temperature pattern remains similar to Lucknow, with a predicted high of 35°C and a low of 18°C. There is also a slight chance of rainfall in the evening and nighttime hours.
Despite the brief respite, IMD reports that temperatures across Lucknow, Kanpur, and most parts of UP are currently 4-6°C above normal. Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to rise again from March 24 onward, with heatwave-like conditions likely to develop by the end of the month.
