The Forest Department has intensified its search for a tiger, which has been on the loose for quite some time now, in the Kakori and Rehmankhera areas near Lucknow. This follows fresh sightings close to the Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (CISH). Earlier, officials had speculated that the tiger was moving towards its natural habitat in Kheri district after pugmarks were discovered near Bansighari village, which lies in that direction. However, recent tracking efforts indicate that the tiger has returned to the vicinity of CISH.
As part of the ongoing search, tracking operations were conducted in Behta Nala using boats, where fresh pugmarks were found along the banks. Officials believe that rising temperatures may be influencing the tiger’s movements, likely drawing it towards Behta Nala in search of water.
On Tuesday, the tiger’s presence was confirmed in the forests of Meetha Nagar and Ularapur through additional pugmark sightings. The search operation involves combing efforts with elephants Sulochana and Diana, along with thermal drone surveillance. Despite extensive monitoring, the tiger continues to remain elusive.
