Lucknow never fails to surprise us with its unique approach towards life, our destination and all things in-between. So here’s a proficient initiative taken up by the bureaucracy to motivate us to practice our fundamental right- VOTING. The district administration here in Lucknow is going all out to encourage everyone, especially the youngsters to turn up and cast their votes for the general elections on May 6! In order to woo the young voters, the authorities had organised a Ganj Carnival on 3rd of May (Friday).

While on a personal level, schools and city trade unions are doing their bit to woo voters, the administration has decided to proliferate awareness for voting through entertainment.
On the 3rd of May (Friday), the authorities had organized a Ganjing Carnival aka Lucknow Voting Carnival after 3 long years!
It was a four-hour programme from 6pm to 10pm and the attendees were witness to bands and local artists performing in the carnival as well, to spread the word. At the event, there was a stage set up for the aforementioned purposes and the roads were also closed for the entire duration of the carnival so that people could enjoy themselves without having to worry about the oncoming traffic.
The whole stretch of the market had been divided into sections which hosted food stalls, a kids section and other facilities to harbor the interests of Lucknowites and to motivate them to exercise their franchise on Monday, which is the 6th of May.

This planned enterprise is a significant step towards propelling people and first-time voters to actually realize the power that they possess because all of us make up the world’s largest democracy- India.
Even a single vote can make a difference for the billion population that our country houses so please, exercise your rights sensibly because we all know about the Butterfly Effect, don’t we?
