Once installed, these devices will initiate an automatic warning for the train's motorman.

To mitigate delays caused by various failures and human errors, Mumbai's local train operations are set to undergo enhancements. The Central Railways Authority is taking a proactive step to enhance safety and prevent accidents. This involves the installation of audio alert units in trains. The implementation plan targets a total of 151 Mumbai trains to be equipped with these devices by March 2024. According to CR officials, as of now, this device has already been installed in 90 rakes.

Once installed, these devices will initiate an automatic warning for the train's motorman, stating, 'Next signal is red, exercise caution.' The inclusion of this audio alert mechanism will effectively mitigate the occurrence of accidents, collisions and derailments that are usually attributed to human errors.

Additionally, the authorities will also be working on insulating points on the tracks and waterproofing equipment, to minimise failures.
