In a bid to improve connectivity, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to construct a flyover from Khar Subway to the Bandra Terminus on the eastern side. This decision stems from the present scenario, where Khar records massive traffic moving towards the Bandra Terminus daily, leading to road congestion and frustrated citizens.
Till now, the only connectivity available between the two areas, are narrow roads and the Khar Subway, which is also left waterlogged during monsoons. Hence, this new Bandra-Khar flyover will pass above residential clusters, alleviating traffic woes.
Details about the upcoming Khar-Bandra Flyover:

Connecting the western tip of Khar Subway to Bandra Terminus, the proposed flyover will pass above crowded residential clusters, to avoid traffic congestion.

The flyover will be built in two parts where the first phase will connect Khar Subway with the Bandra Terminus.

The second phase will provide complete connectivity to the Western Express Highway (WEH), so that motorists from the western side can directly switch to the highway in the east.
BMC is planning to build the entire flyover at an estimated cost of ₹2,400 crore and has floated a tender too. As per the officials, the project is expected to be completed in the next 42 months.
