The much-anticipated Bengali festival is upon us, and Mumbai is ablaze with vivid colours and a lively festive spirit. With delectable dishes, stunningly adorned pandals, and captivating cultural performances, there’s so much to soak in. To help you plan better, here is a list of 8 must-visit pandals around Mumbai.

This year, pujo will start from October 9 with Shashthi and continue till October 13, so plan accordingly!

North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja

Immerse yourself in one of Mumbai’s most celebrated and historic Durga Puja festivities, the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja! Founded in 1948 by Padma Shri Shashdhar Mukerji, this lively festival, fondly referred to as “Mukherjee Durga Puja,” attracts devotees and admirers. Join in the celebration with beloved celebrities such as Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Alia Bhatt, and Ranbir Kapoor!

Lokhandwala Durgotsav

Led by singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the Lokhandwala Durga Puja celebrations beautifully showcase Bengal’s rich heritage. Renowned for its enchanting decorations, the pandal evokes a fairy-tale vibe, described as the ‘Disneyland for mature audiences’. Don’t miss the special Dhunuchi dance, featuring talented artists invited from Murshidabad, West Bengal, for an unforgettable experience.

The Bengal Club

The Bengal Club brings the essence of Kolkata’s Kalighat temple to Dadar with stunning replicas of Paat paintings and metal-finished idols. Nestled in a quiet zone, it features Dhunuchi dances and children’s programs, while serving authentic bhog, including khichdi and payesh. This grand pandal at Shivaji Park has hosted Durga Puja since 1922, showcasing beautifully designed stalls offering delicious cuisine, stylish accessories, and West Bengali antiques.

Ramkrishna Math & Mission

Celebrating 60 years of tradition, the Durga Puja at Ramakrishna Math is renowned for its authentic Bengali rituals. Since 1932, this celebration has drawn devotees eager to experience its rich customs, including Bhog, food stalls, and soulful bhajans performed by the monks. A highlight is the Kumari Puja on Ashtami, along with the serene Pushpanjali ceremony.

The Bombay Durga Bari Samiti

Celebrating its 85th year, the Bombay Durga Bari Samiti’s Durga Puja will feature the Ekchala this time, showcasing deities in a single frame. The stunning decorations will include Dhaaker Saaj, while performances will highlight the works of Rabindranath Tagore. Singer Kunal Ganjawala will also contribute to a special play. Don’t forget to check out the popular Nalen Gurer ice cream stall at this historic pandal.

Mumbai Chi Mauli

Every year, Mumbaichi Mauli is celebrated with a spectacular procession in Mumbai. This year, the Aagman occurred on September 29, 2024, with devotees joyfully welcoming the Devi. Renowned for its rich history and stunning decorations, Mumbaichi Mauli is one of the city’s oldest pandals, making it a cherished part of Mumbai’s cultural heritage.

Andheri Chi Mauli

This year, Mumbai’s beloved Andheri Chi Mauli made a spectacular entrance atop a magnificent golden lotus, accompanied by a snowy owl with fluttering wings! The atmosphere was electric, filled with lively performances that had everyone on their feet. Follow on Instagram for more updates.

Parel Chi Mauli

Parel Chi Mauli comes alive during Navratri, as celebrations honour the goddess with fervour and devotion.
