IMD issues Yellow alert for Mumbai and 10 other districts in Maharashtra

Towards the final rain spells of the Monsoon, Mumbaikars are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall coupled with lightning and thunderstorm. In its Monday bulletin, the IMD issued a Yellow alert for Mumbai and adjoining areas for Monday and Tuesday. Reportedly, the incoming spell of rain is expected to continue until October 20, with rainfall in isolated places in Western, South-Western, and Central Maharashtra.

Rains mark the end of dry spell in Mumbai

After a dry spell of a couple of days, Mumbai and 10 other districts will witness a spell of monsoonal rainfall. As per the IMD, the temperature at the Santacruz zone is expected to hover on the higher side, between 25.6˚C to 34.4˚C. Meanwhile, Colaba will likely witness temperatures from 26.8˚C to 34.2˚C with winds gusting up to 40 kmph across the city.

Apart from this, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Beed, Nanded, Latur and Osmanabad districts of Maharashtra are expected to witness heavy rains in isolated zones. Meanwhile, partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers are expected in Mumbai and Mumbai suburbs.

IMD has also issued a high and low tide alert for Mumbai, as the city’s coastal areas will reportedly see a high tide of 2.81 metres and a low tide of 1.88 metres.
