Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will remain closed today from 11 AM to 5 PM for its annual post-monsoon runway maintenance, as previously notified.
In addition, major traffic restrictions have been in effect near the airport since 00:00 on November 19 and will continue until 6 PM today to facilitate the installation of a large aquarium tank near Gate No. 8 in Santacruz (East).

To avoid the closed section, follow these diversions:

If you are arriving via Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Road: Continue straight and proceed via Kalina Junction.

If you are arriving via Air India Road (from Kurla Mithi River): Take a left turn onto Air India Road and proceed further via Kalina Junction.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Traffic Police have imposed a temporary no-parking zone along a critical stretch in the Sahar Traffic Division, aimed at reducing congestion and preventing accidents. The no-parking order, effective from November 15, 2025, will remain in place until February 15, 2026, and violators may face fines or towing.
Travel disruption sends airfares soaring
The airport shutdown has caused a sharp rise in last-minute airfare prices. On Wednesday, the advance fare for a one-way ticket from Mumbai to Delhi for Thursday’s midnight flight started at ₹20,000. For earlier departures, like the 9:30 PM flight, fares surged to ₹25,000. Popular routes like Mangalore, Madurai, and Patna saw no availability for non-stop flights. Patna’s fares were the highest, priced at ₹27,500 for a 12-hour journey via Ahmedabad. Other high-demand routes included Kochi at ₹23,500 and Jaipur at ₹21,000. Northeast destinations like Kolkata and Bagdogra were relatively cheaper, with fares starting around ₹15,000.
