The Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP) has just taken a step forward with the opening of a new stretch from Haji Ali Juice Centre to Marine Drive. This addition is set to provide a faster, high-speed route for southbound traffic.
The final leg of the project, linking the BWSL to Lotus Jetty-Worli Naka, is expected to be operational by mid-March.
Providing faster access to Mumbai’s western coast
MCRP has multi-level interchanges at Haji Ali, Peddar Road (Amarsons Garden), and Worli Sea Face. Notably, the Haji Ali interchange features eight vehicle arms, while the Amarsons and Worli interchanges have four and five, respectively.
Previously, vehicles heading south had limited access to the coastal road, mainly through the Worli interchange, Amarsons interchange, or via the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL). With this new stretch now open, motorists have swifter connection along Mumbai’s western coastline.

In related developments, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently inaugurated a bow-string arch bridge that connects the BWSL to the coastal road. Additionally, three important interchanges were opened last month, providing better access to key areas such as Worli, Prabhadevi, Lower Parel, and Lotus Junction. These upgrades are expected to significantly reduce congestion and enhance travel efficiency across South Mumbai.
