In a bid to combat the rising issue of counterfeit tickets and passenger complaints, engineers at Western Railway (WR) have developed two mobile applications for Mumbai Local Trains, said reports. These apps are set to enhance ticket verification and expedite complaint redressal on long-distance trains.
Matching data with railway system for authenticity
The first app, currently in the beta testing phase, allows ticket checkers to scan the UTS number, mobile number, and other ticket details. This information is then matched with the railways’ system to verify authenticity.
Swift complaint resolution through immediate alerts
The second app aims to speed up the resolution of passenger complaints. Every long-distance train will have a train captain as the primary point of contact for complaints. At the start of each journey, the captain will log the names and contact details of all onboard staff, ensuring that the captain TTes, and rail control room have access to this information. This will enable swift resolution of complaints by quickly alerting the concerned personnel. Currently, passengers raise concerns via the 139 helpline or the Rail Madad app, which takes time to process.
With these two apps, Western Railway aims to enhance passenger safety, reduce ticket fraud, and ensure a more efficient travel experience for all passengers
