Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7, which connect the northern suburbs and run along the Western Express Highway and Link Road, have now carried over 200 million passengers since services began in April 2022. This achievement highlights the growing preference for fast, reliable, and modern urban transit.

The Metro network reached 10 million rides by January 2023, crossed 100 million by May 2024, and hit 150 million by January 2025. On July 8, 2025, it marked its highest single-day ridership of 300,000 commuters.
While it took nine months to hit 10 million passengers and 25 months to reach 100 million, the Metro crossed the next 100 million milestone in 14 months, signalling accelerating adoption. Ridership has been growing consistently at 4–5% per month, according to MMRDA.
Enhancing services & accessibility
To improve commuter experience, Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMMOCL) is working on higher service frequency, digital ticketing, and better last-mile links. MMRDA has also introduced e-ticketing and 25% discounts on passes and Mumbai 1 cards for school students, senior citizens, and disabled passengers.
