Mumbai Rains: 17-day-old Worli underground station floods, flights delayed, Yellow Alert issued
On May 26, monsoons arrived abruptly in Mumbai, marking its earliest recorded arrival in the city since 1950; nearly two weeks ahead of schedule. South Mumbai bore the brunt of the downpour, with Nariman Point receiving a staggering 252 mm of rainfall within just 13 hours.
The heavy rains caused severe waterlogging across the city, bringing daily life to a halt and disrupting services, including a shutdown of Metro Line 3 services after flooding was reported at the 17-day-old Worli underground station near Acharya Atre Chowk.
Mumbai Metro officials announced on social media that, due to an unexpected technical problem, Metro Line 3 trains will temporarily run only up to Worli Station instead of reaching Acharya Atre Chowk.
Airlines like IndiGo and Air India warned passengers of delays due to severe weather.
