Mumbai has secured its place among the top cities worldwide for students in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Best Cities Rankings 2025, with a global rank of 113. This recognition underscores Mumbai’s growing reputation as a major educational centre.
In this year’s rankings, four Indian cities are featured (including Mumbai), with Delhi ranked highest at 111th place, followed by Bengaluru at 130th, and Chennai closely trailing at 140th, affirming India’s diverse appeal to students from around the world.

The QS Rankings, which assessed 150 cities worldwide, evaluated various factors crucial to student life such as university rankings, student diversity, employer engagement, livability, cost-effectiveness, and student feedback. Mumbai’s advancement in these rankings reflects its growing reputation for academic excellence and cultural vibrancy, making it an ideal hub for both domestic and international students.
In recent years, India has seen a steady influx of foreign students, despite a slight decline in overall numbers in the 2021-22 academic year. Approximately 46,000 international students are enrolled in Indian institutions, during this period, hailing from 170 different countries. K
