After enduring a week of cloudy weather, Mumbaikars can look forward to clear, sunny weather starting Tuesday, April 23, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). However, the return of clear skies brings soaring temperatures, with the mercury expected to climb to 36°C amid stifling 71% humidity.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for hot and humid conditions in parts of Mumbai, while neighbouring Thane and Raigad districts face even harsher conditions, with Thane likely to hit 39°C by midweek. Though Monday's temperatures in Colaba and Santacruz remained a bearable 33.5°C, the easing of cooling north-westerly winds has set the stage for rising discomfort.

Meteorologists attribute the sudden heat surge to shifting wind patterns but assure respite by Thursday, with temperatures dipping back to 34°C. Until then, residents should prepare for a brief but intense bout of sweltering weather.
