Mumbai’s crème de la crème, including top politicians, billionaire business tycoons, and Bollywood stars, will soon have a dedicated VVIP terminal at the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). According to official documents, the exclusive terminal will be part of the airport’s third phase of expansion, with construction set to begin in FY2026 and completion targeted by 2030.
NMIA to redefine elite air travel
The terminal will cater to central and state government officials, defence personnel, governors, chief ministers, and high-profile personalities from the film and business worlds. It will also serve as a general aviation hub, ensuring seamless travel for elite travellers.
Currently, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport lacks a dedicated VVIP facility, making NMIA’s new terminal a game-changer. The greenfield airport, set to begin operations after May 15, aims to ease congestion at the existing single-runway airport.
Phase 1 of NMIA will handle 20 million passengers annually, with Terminal 2 boosting capacity to 30 million by 2028. The VVIP terminal will feature a Code E taxiway, accommodating large aircraft like the Boeing 747 and Airbus A380, ensuring luxury and convenience for its elite users.
