Mumbai commuters continue to face severe transport disruptions as Ola and Uber drivers extend their strike for a second day. Thousands of app-based cab drivers from across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region have gathered at Azad Maidan near CSMT, demanding fairer conditions. Drivers claim current earnings of ₹8–₹9 per kilometre are unsustainable due to rising fuel costs, maintenance expenses, and loan burdens.
Demands from drivers
-
Fare rationalisation in line with RTO-approved rates
-
A ban on bike taxi services like Rapido
-
Caps on auto and cab permits to prevent oversupply
-
Reinstatement of deactivated driver accounts
-
Creation of a welfare board for drivers
-
A fair grievance redressal mechanism
