Relief from the heat underway! Mumbai to receive light drizzles today

A reprieve from Mumbai's relentless heat.

Unpredictable weather took parts of Mumbai by surprise over the weekend, with light drizzles, leaving residents reaching out for umbrellas. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai can expect more of these refreshing showers today. Meanwhile, Thane and Raigad are bracing for a Yellow Alert with thunderstorms, complete with lightning and gusts at speeds of 30-40 kmph.

Additionally, Maharashtra is grappling with heavy rainfall in various regions. Following which, IMD has issued an Orange Alert for districts such as Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Nashik, Ahmednagar, and several parts of Vidarbha.

As per IMD senior experts, the current weather pattern is characterised by a trough and a line of discontinuity. This convergence results in the interaction of various wind types, including dry and moist winds. This interaction is likely to cause light drizzles in Mumbai and Thane.
