COVID cases continue to rise in Goa; 1992 test positive on Sunday

With a fresh load of 1,992 fresh COVID cases in Goa, the state continued to be under the grip of the pandemic on Sunday. With this, the case positivity rate in the coastal state shot up to 24.76% on January 9, up from 23.75% the day before. As per the reports, Goa's cumulative case count increased to 1,89,909 infections, inching near the 2 lakh mark.

Curbs imposed on gatherings in Goa; no night curfew for now

On Friday, the Goa state government announced restrictions to be put on crowded places in the state. While these restrictions will be in place throughout the day and night, the administration has currently ruled out a complete night curfew. This is because crowds have been identified as the primary cause of the surge in Covid cases. Meanwhile, Goa reported 1,432 total cases and 2 fatalities in the past 24 hours, up from 971 cases in the previous day.

New infections drop below 100 in Goa for the 1st time in 118 days!

With the retreating second wave of the pandemic, COVID graphs have taken a continuous downward trajectory in Goa. On Monday, less than 100 new cases were registered in the state for the first time in 118 days. No new fatality was recorded either and the active tallies too have contracted to a count of 1,436 patients now. Notably, the test positivity rate for the previous week stands at 3.3% and the recovery rate has also marked a small hike climbing up to 97.3%.
