Western Railway to launch 8 more AC local trains in Mumbai from Monday; check schedule here

Starting Monday, 8 new AC suburban trains will be added to the air-conditioned local fleet of Western Railway in Mumbai. These additional services will ply along the Churchgate-Virar corridor, amplifying the daily luxury train frequency from 12 to 20 services. All Mumbai local services to return to tracks from October 28

In a bid to streamline and regulate the increased passenger load in local trains, the Central and Western Railways have decided to resume 100% suburban services in the Mumbai division, starting October 28. Notably, the Railways have clarified that though all services are being restored, the existing travel restrictions for the general public will continue. Only those recognised and allowed by the government and Ministry of Railways are permitted to travel in the local trains, in accordance with the established standard operating procedures (SOP).

Proposed bullet train project to significantly reduce travel time between Mumbai & Hyderabad

Bringing a new era of commute to the nation, a new bullet train project has been tabled to run from Mumbai and Hyderabad. The rapid speed rail is being said to cover the distance between two cities in just 3 hours. Reportedly, designated authorities have prepared a feasibility report and a survey is ongoing on the proposed Mumbai-Hyderabad route. Once approved, the bullet train will run along a 649.76 km-long green corridor.

Hop aboard the Vistadome coach of the Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express to cruise along a scenic ride!

Redefining train travel, the Indian Railway's Central Railway zone has decided to add a Vistadome coach in the Mumbai-Pune Deccan Special Train, which is all set to hit the tracks from June 26. It is for the first time that such luxury coaches will run along the scenic route, offering a scenic cruise to all travellers, between the two cities. As per protocols amid the COVID outbreak, only passengers having reserved tickers will be allowed to board the special service, in compliance with all SOPs and other safety norms.

Students appearing for exams in Mumbai permitted to travel in Local trains till December 10

Students appearing for Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Education examinations, along with other teaching and non-teaching staff, are now permitted to travel in the Mumbai locals. Students must carry their hall tickets and identity cards are also mandatory. The permission has been granted effective immediately and is valid till December 10.
